Former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, has been made an honorary Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) in recognition of his support of the Institute. Lord Thomas, who retired in October, said: ‘As specialist lawyers, Chartered Legal Executives have an important role to play in the legal landscape. I have been heartened to see new opportunities open up to them in recent years—from independent practice rights, to setting up their own law firms, or entering the ranks of the judiciary.’
