Commissions propose further protection for consumers
Reforms to improve protection for consumers from unfair charges in small print have been proposed by the Law Commission and Scottish Law Commission. Since 1994, under an EU directive, the courts have been able to assess the fairness of terms in consumer contracts but not the price. The Commissions propose that the courts be given the power to assess charges in the small print for fairness as well.
