CAFCASS has reached the upper limit of its capacity to take on cases, according to Sir Andrew McFarlane, President of the Family Division

In his blog, ‘A View from The President’s Chambers’, Sir Andrew said discussions were ongoing at a national level on how to resolve the issue.

He also asked lawyers to keep their submissions brief as, without a ‘radical reduction’ in the amount of time spent on each hearing, the family court has no chance of delivering on the needs of those children and adults who need protection.
