Berezovsky case most expensive private action in history
Boris Berezovsky, whose High Court claim against Roman Abramovich settled in August, has to pay legal costs of nearly £39m following what is believed to be the most expensive private action in England’s legal history.
The battle of the Russian oligarchs began after Berezovsky claimed Abramovich broke promises and persuaded him to sell his shares in oil company Sibneft at too cheap a price.
Berezovsky has agreed to pay Abramovich’s legal expenses of £35m, and has also been ordered to pay £3.75m to businessman Vasily Anisimov for a second claim.
