‘Myths of Brexit’ are circulating about the likely legal impact of Brexit on English law and the UK’s role in international dispute resolution, Lord Justice Hamblen has warned, in a speech at the Brexit Conference organised by the Hong Kong Department of Justice. ‘In particular, it has been suggested that a cloud of uncertainty has somehow descended which should affect international parties’ choice on these important matters,’ he said. Hamblen LJ reiterated the reasons for choosing English law, English jurisdiction and English arbitration, and explained why those reasons would remain valid regardless of Brexit.
