The Bar Council is launching a programme to help barristers comply with new data protection rules due to take effect next year.
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force in the UK on 25 May 2018.
To help barristers and chambers prepare for compliance with GDPR obligations, the Bar Council, in partnership with the Legal Practice Management Association (LPMA) and the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks (IBC), has invited bids from potential contractors for two new initiatives.
The first initiative would provide chambers with template materials so they can audit and assess their current data protection provisions against GDPR requirements.
The second initiative would tailor compliance measures to the specific needs of individual chambers.
