Promotions across several of the firm’s practices

B P Collins has announced promotions across a number of its practices:

  • Dispute resolution lawyer Rajiv Malhotra (pictured top left) is promoted to partner.
  • Property lawyer Emily Halley (pictured top right) is promoted to senior associate.
  • Manjot Dhillon (pictured bottom left), property dispute resolution practice, is promoted to senior associate.
  • Lisa McBrearty (pictured bottom right), private client practice, is promoted to senior associate.

Rajiv’s principal practice areas are commercial litigation and construction, working with a broad spectrum of clients, from individuals to multi-million pound businesses. Rajiv specialises in a wide range of pre-action, County Court and High Court litigation involving consumer protection, shareholder and director disputes, consumer and commercial debt recovery, general contract disputes and construction matters.

Rajiv was also part of the B P Collins team that advised a well-known waste management business in successfully defending a £3m claim during a High Court trial. This led to a reported decision that set legal precedent in respect of accepting a Pt 36 settlement offer during trial.

Emily advises both corporate and individual clients on all aspects of commercial property law—including acquisitions, sales, landlord and tenant matters, and high-value and complex transactions.

Specialising in property disputes, Manjot has a particular focus on residential landlord and tenant matters, including possession matters, service charge disputes and disputes relating to breaches of lease covenants and leasehold enfranchisement. She also has experience in boundary disputes, easements disputes such as rights of way, the interpretation of restrictive covenants affecting land and commercial landlord and tenant matters.

Meanwhile, Lisa has more than 18 years’ experience in helping clients with their future planning and is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She advises on estate planning, including the preparation of wills and lasting powers of attorney, and also deals with the administration of estates and Court of Protection work, including deputyship applications.

Simon Deans, senior partner, said: ‘Each lawyer has made an incredible contribution both to their practice and to the firm over the years. They are technically excellent lawyers, always seeking to find the best solution for their clients and committed mentors to other team members. Their promotions are well deserved.’
