Specialist firm welcomes new partner and appoints new managing partner

National specialist firm Arc Pensions Law has welcomed Sonya Fraser as partner in its London office, who joins from Sackers.

Sonya supports trustees and employers operating defined benefit and defined contribution workplace pension schemes. She advises on day-to-day pensions issues, such as new legal developments, pensions tax, member queries, trustee duties and discretions, valuation negotiations and interpretation of scheme rules.

She also has a large amount of experience advising on project work, such as end-game planning and risk transfer projects (including use of scheme surplus), benefit changes, GMP equalisation/conversion and scheme mergers.

Senior partner Anna Rogers commented: ‘We are delighted to welcome Sonya to the team. Her wealth of experience, particularly in relation to buy-ins and buyouts, will be invaluable to our clients as we see more and more schemes approaching endgame.’

Arc Pensions Law is also announcing that Leeds-based partner Kate Payne will be replacing Rosalind Connor as managing partner from 1 April.

Commenting on her appointment, Kate said: ‘I am excited to be stepping into this new role, and I look forward to steering Arc through this period of growth. Pensions as an industry is ever evolving, and schemes face legal issues at every turn. Our firm is designed to deliver the robust and forward-looking advice for which we are known.’

To help meet the requirements of the growing team, the firm is moving its London office to 100 Liverpool Street in the heart of the City.
