In brief

Ageism is to be central to the forthcoming single Equality Bill, putting it on a par with racism. The Bill is expected to offer protection to the elderly from discrimination in a number of areas including the NHS, and in finance and insurance. In addition, the Bill will include provision to protect the rights of the elderly to work. The Employers Forum on Age says it is imperative that employers continue to play a part in achieving equality in the UK.
