Solicitor-advocates have set up an online “court advocacy network” to help advocates refer work to each other. The site, set up by the Solicitors’ Association for Higher Court Advocates (SAHCA), explains that it aims to address the problem “frequently encountered by SAHCA’s members, that when they receive instructions to attend a court outside of their region, or in a field in which they are not specialised, they have been forced to resort to instructing agents or members of the Bar”. SAHCA’s initiative follows hot on the heels of the launch this month of the Bar Council’s direct access portal for barristers.
