Acas in demand

The recession has led to a 22% rise in unfair dismissal conciliation cases, according to Acas’ annual report for 2008–09.

The number of other employment tribunal cases referred to Acas for conciliation increased by 18%, and demand for redundancy advice has soared by almost three quarters. Acas provided training to nearly 5,500 organisations, nearly a third more than in the previous year.
