Applications for divorce, probate and certain Court of Protection orders are among 202 court fees that could rise by 10% next March

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) aims to generate between £34m and £42m per year through the fees hike. Its consultation, ‘Implementing increases to selected court and tribunal fees’, launched last week and runs until 22 December 2023.

The consultation and full list of fees potentially affected is available here.

Justice minister Mike Freer said the additional funding generated would ‘go directly towards improving service delivery [and] subsidising the cost of related court and tribunal services for which we do not charge a fee’.
